We are excited to announce that SUMMERLOVE SWIMWEAR has become an official partner of Healthy Seas! SUMMERLOVE SWIMWEAR features a range of eco bikinis made exclusively with ECONYL®, a 100% recycled polyamide fiber that’s made from pre and post-consumer materials such as discarded fishing nets recovered by the Healthy Seas initiative. 

Every year, around 640,000 tons of fishing gear is lost or left in the ocean. The gear traps, injures, and kills hundreds of thousands of sea animals. Abandoned fish nets, known as ‘ghost nets’, are usually lost in storms, snagged on reefs or tangled when boats operate in crowded waters. But the Healthy Seas Initiative has given these nets a second life. Working with local divers and fishermen, they retrieve the nets (see video below) and instead of sending them to a landfill, they partner with a yarn manufacturer, Aquafil, who use the nets to produce a recycled nylon called ECONYL®. This recycled material is then used to make a number of products like our eco swimwear.

WHERE ARE YOU FROM/ WHERE WERE YOU BORN?
Stockholm, Sweden

THIS SPRING WE HAD THE OPPORTUNITY TO WORK WITH YOU ON OUR WANDERLUST ECO COLLECTION SHOOT IN ST BARTHS, WHERE YOU WERE LIVING AT THE TIME. WHERE DO YOU LIVE NOW / WHAT BROUGHT YOU TO ST BARTS?
I'm currently living in Florence, Italy. My parents met in St Barths so I kind of always wanted to live there at one point. I've visited every now and then as a kid and I'm really lucky because my family has a house there. I could totally see myself living there again at another point in my life. I really loved it.



WHAT WAS THE GOOD AND BAD OF LIVING ON AN ISLAND?
Good is the beautiful nature all around you all the time - constantly having to get out of the car to move turtles from the road to the iguanas and hermit crabs everywhere. I never got tired of it once. There's also a big sense of community between the locals since it's so small, and it's easy to develop a group of friends since you see a lot of the sam people all the time. On the other hand, if you don't want to see someone it can be pretty hard to avoid people. Also fresh produce is kind of hard to get and pretty expensive. I love to cook so that would really start to get to me after a while. In Italy everything is super fresh and really cheap, so I'm super excited about that!

WHY DID YOU WANT TO GET INTO MODELING?
I never saw myself as a model, but one day this woman with a boutique on the island wanted me in one of the fashion shows they do and I was pretty pumped about it! After that show I got a few offers to do some other ones for different boutiques and it kind of escalated from there. I'm pretty lucky that I've been modeling for such a short time and have already been able to shoot/work with all the cool photographers and brands that I have.

WHERE DO YOU SEE YOURSELF IN 5 YEARS?
Hopefully traveling as much as possible, and I want to really step up my game with cooking. I think food science is really cool and that's something I would love as a career.

A FUN OR WIERD FACT ABOUT YOU
I'm crazy about Star Trek! I met George Takei at supercon in Miami a few years ago and I think about it all the time. My dad got me into the franchise and I fell in love with it immediately. In middle school I used to host fan club parties at my house, but I'm pretty sure my friends only came for the snacks.

FAVORITE HOBBIES?
Reading, petting dogs, playing volleyball, baking, cooking, hiking.

FAVORITE FOOD?
Indian food and Thai food!
